This is one of those sites that used to be beautiful before the environmentalists fucked it up. Many years back now someone fell from that rockface whilst abseiling and died. So they banned all from walking down the path to the foot of the falls. I’m not really sure how they connected the dots between the two activities, but needless to say we all adhere to the new rules religiously.

Hi, while I too dislike being mollycoddled by rules, in this case the problem was not the people falling that killed them, it was the ROCKS falling and killing them. So joining up the dots is a risk averse land manager (local Shire) thinking that rocks may fall anytime and even walking around at the bottom of the falls may not be safe from falling rocks. Apparently, the falls are actually moving slowly back, so rock falls are regular and common. The deaths were 2 high school students on a well-conducted adventure activity, sadly not even on the rock face at the time but waiting their turn to climb. So, much as I dislike the "nanny state", it probably is justified in this (one) case! Vanessa
